I recently had the pleasure of photographing the Spring Summer collection for Manchester based fashion brand Tokyo Laundry. We had a fantastic day shooting on location in Ancoats Manchester. We started off at an indoor location, the fantastic Beehive Mill which has some great features including huge windows, exposed steel beams and lots of brickwork. As it was an incredibly cold and frosty morning we decided to start photographing inside and set up by the large window. The rainbow hammocks were perfect props for the summery outfits and the morning sun streaming through the window provided a lovely backdrop to shoot against. I used my Bowens natural daylight mainly as I didn’t really want to use flash and wanted to keep the photographs as natural looking as possible. I also wanted to make use of the lovely natural sun light that we had pouring in through the window. Once we had finished photographing the summery t shirts and shorts we moved on to sportswear – this I photographed on the stair well, using the old lift that was in the mill. As we moved outside I mainly used natural light and a reflector as we used the streets around Ancoats in Manchester as our urban backdrop. I think the brand really suited the location that Tokyo Laundry picked and we had a great team working together to produce some results we were all really happy with. Here are a selection of my favourite images from the day.
