I spent a lovely and very busy day recently photographing children for Nemesis casting at Nemesis House in the centre of Manchester. We had over 25 kids in for the day ranging from around 2 to teenagers. I love photographing children, it’s fun to get them out of their shell and see their personalities shine through in front of the camera. I took my own lighting set up and we had two backdrop sets in the casting suite – one white and one charcoal grey so we could get a variety of shots for everyone. I also took each child outside for some photos as it was such a beautiful day. My fantastic assistant Andrea helped me out a lot during the day as it is tricky being heavily pregnant and trying to get up and down off the floor and running around after the little ones. I forget sometimes that I have large bump in front of me that slows me down a bit… I just used natural daylight with a reflector for the outside photos – both to diffuse the harsh sunlight and also to add more light in shadowy areas.
